San Francisco Love

Biked our tandem bike around Golden Gate Park.
Explored Exploratorium. (for free :D)
Ran into my friend Rosy and finally met her bf, George ( or Jorge in our book :]).
Had delicious oysters and the best clam chowder at Hogs Island Oyster.
Climbed our little hearts out through the hilly roads. ( it's amazing to see ol granny's walking up those hills like its nothing.)
Drove to Sonoma for a segway tour consisted of 2 winery and a Cheese tour. I must say, wine and cheese are my new found love.
Got my dim sum fixed. Lets not forget the egg tarts.
Rode the trolley. ( My favorite ride)
Climbed up a thousand stairways to get dinner at this sushi place in North Beach. The raw jumbo shrimp was def worth the climb. Mmmm...making hungry just thinking bout it.
Tour of the TCHO chocolate. Free as well. It was great, loved the free sampling at the end.
Overall, a great city. Loved the strolls we took at sunset. Most def would visit again in the future.
Next month, our destination is AUSTIN, TX.

Happy belated Valentine's day!
Jack surprised me with beautiful roses and a candlelit dinner. While I made him a special mosaic photo display on his computer desk. I'm full of silly expressions for my mister. Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's as well. Have an awesome weekend!

Monday, February 4, 2013

It was early February, I was still at home living with my family and Jack was living in Richmond. What started as a causal month, turned into the most life changing milestone in my life. It was the start of our lives together. By the end of this month last year, I had moved to Richmond and started my life with Jack by my side. Every day and night, we were together. It has been a true blessing.  What February didn't consist of last year was the obvious, Valentine's Day. Too busy making my big move and with work, we didn't get a chance to celebrate the day.  So this year is our first valentine together, and I want to do something special for him. I've got a couple of ideas up my sleeves, but still a work in progress.

Not to mention this weekend is also Chinese New Year, and to be honest, I'm not completely sure how we are going to be celebrate it without our families around. In my family, my dad is always the chef and Jack's mom is the cook in his family. However, due to work, we will not be able to visit either one of our family this weekend. Just reminiscing on my past Chinese New Year at home with my family. Dad would cook enough food to feed a whole village. Boy, am I going to miss his cooking this weekend.

Onsen Tamago

Call me a weirdo, but these babies are the absolute best morning eggs ever. Onsen Tamago meaning Hot Spring Eggs is a delicate custard white with a firm egg yolk. I have yet to perfect my onsen tamago, but so far, the eggs go by fast, so we're enjoying them very much.

Korean style rice bowl

Happy Friday!
Today's lunch is my very own version of the simplest, yet delicious bibimbap.

I love Korean food! I remember when my fiance and I were still dating, whenever he would visit me, the first thing we'd do was eat at a Korean restaurant. Every single visit. Korean food has definitely claimed a special spot in my heart.

Little about us: We had a long distance relationship, and during that period of time he would visit me just about every other weekend. Jack would fly, drive, or Amtrak his way down to Atlanta from Richmond to see me. He is the sweetest thing ever.

Our favorite dishes are soondufu jjigae (soft tofu stew), haemul pajeon (seafood pancake), galbi tang (short rib soup), naki bokkeum (spicy octopus) and bibimbap ( mixed-rice). Oh and let's not forget the amazing mouth-watering-just-by-the-thought-of-it, korean style BBQ. Whenever we get a break to drive up to DC, we must stock up on yummy Korean food. I'll have to take some pictures of our next Korean night dinner special, it is the absolute best.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Just do it!

Its so gloomy and cloudy outside. You know what that means?.. perfect weather to go jogging! I'll admit, I've been such a lazy bum for the last month or so. Its weird. Somehow I became this very inactive person, who pretty much hates exercising now. I like to blame work for all of this. Yet, in reality, I know its something that I can't blame anyone or anything on. It's something that I, myself must work on. Along with the chilly weathers sometimes, I just lost my motivation to get up and start moving. EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES, I know, I know... I am a terrible person. Even right now, I'm literally trying to talk myself out of it, again! Just really wish there was some group of girls around the area, who may have similar problems. I seriously need to meet new active people.
For now, I think I really need some hard core motivation to WANT to get fit again. Sometimes I just have to really think bout Jack. He's my honey bum, my happiness, my better half. Thinking of him always makes me want to better myself because I love him and I want to be in the best shape possible for him. He is my MOTIVATION.

In the meantime, I hope this Manifesto poster ( I love this poster) will inspire and motivate you to do whatever it is that you've been wanting to do, but have been putting it off FAR TOO LONG. Do it today!

Mmm.. cake

Our friend, Haolan's birthday weekend!
You know what Richmond needs? A Korean bakery! Oh, how I wish I knew how to bake those delicious soft, airy, spongy, and light cakes. This was the closet to a Korean cake I could find around the area and it was from Whole Foods. It's quite pretty and the whip was light, yet the cake itself is not as soft and sponge like as we liked.  I just may attempt to bake myself a sponge cake in the near future. Even though I'm not much of a baker, but its a skill I want to improve on. I think baking is such a fun concept, whether it be for friends and family to eat or the process of baking, the experience itself brings joy. I sure wish there were some bakers I can befriend around the area to help me along the way.
